Quotes
" I thought I knew what fear was, until I heard the words you have cancer"
" My Previous fears, fear of not being liked, fear of being laughed at, fear of losing my money, suddenly seemed like small cowardices. Everything now stacked up differently, the anxieties of life--a flat tire, losing my career, a traffic jam--were reprioritized into need versus want, real problem as opposed to minor scare. A bumpy plane ride was just a bumpy plane ride it wasn't cancer"
(McConnell, 2001)
" I feel a stronger bond with the riders now than I did before" (Ford, 2009)
“Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever.”
“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.”
““Anything is possible. You can be told that you have a 90-percent chance or a 50-percent chance or a 1-percent chance, but you have to believe, and you have to fight.””
"If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.”
"Winning is about heart, not just legs. It's got to be in the right place.”

Why I chose this person:
I chose Lance Armstrong because he never gave up on riding the bike after he was diagnosed with testicle cancer. He's been through so much and he fought through it all. Just because he had testicle cancer that had spread to his lungs, brain, abdomen and to his lymph nodes and only was given a 50/50 chance of living that never stopped him from getting back on his bike. After he went through all the treatments he got back on his bike and started to compete again. He ended up winning the Tour De France 6 more times which is very impressive. I didn't choose him because he is a good athlete, but because he never gave up when things got hard he just let life go and whatever happens happen. What is the global influence this person has:
Lance Armstrong's encourages world leaders, cancer organizations and advocates to commit to making cancer a global priority. The foundation (LAF) or better known as "The Lance Armstrong Foundation". If people don't act on global level cancer will be the leading cause of death by 2010. He wants this foundation to bring everyone who has cancer together to fight it (2009).
